You may qualify for FREE research-related medical care as part of a new cardiovascular treatment study

Dear Mr. Fred Smith:

If you are 55 or older, you may qualify for a new blood pressure medication study. This can help you by entitling you to:

  • Expert FREE study-related medical care at a university medical center. This attention from university-trained expert physicians will be in addition to any care you now receive from your doctor.
  • NO CHARGE for medications, EKG's and any study-related procedures. A parking allowance will also be paid.
  • A chance to help advance medical knowledge about hypertension. This study tests the relative advantages of two blood pressure control medications, Telmisartan and Ramipril, and testing the effectiveness of Telmisartan alone. Both are cardiovascular drugs approved by the FDA and have a well-known track record for their safety. They are not experimental.
  • Possibly benefiting from improved health that often occurs among participants in studies such as this. In general you will receive more attention to your health than people not enrolled in studies.

You may qualify for this study if you are over 55, and have ever had any of these ailments: heart attack, stroke, coronary disease, angina, poor circulation, or high risk diabetes. You are not required to participate in this study.
